Up in a balloon there is almost no noise, just the odd burst from the burner and a lot of open sky. We take off around sunrise, when the air is calm and a thin mist still sits between the limestone peaks.

How it goes
- We pick you up at your hotel in Vang Vieng and drive you to the launch field.
- You watch the crew lay out and fill the balloon. Honestly, this part is worth the early start on its own.
- Your pilot gives a short safety talk, then you climb into the basket and we lift off.
- Float over villages, farmland and the river for about half an hour.
- We land, you help us pack up if you feel like it, and we drive you back to your hotel.

Good to know
- Wear closed shoes and a few light layers. Mornings are cooler than you expect.
